Bio

Philip Hastings co-founded Gow Hastings Architects with partner Valerie Gow in 2002. For over two decades their design of college and university buildings have transformed academic life across Ontario.

Philip’s common-sense approach, his strong leadership, and his methodological management style have shaped long-lasting and trusting relationships with both clients and trades. He works with humility, integrity and determination to realise innovative and experiential, practice-based learning environments.

His work has received numerous local, international, business, and sustainability awards, including the prestigious WAF (World Architecture Festival) shortlist, several OAA Awards of Design Excellence and the Toronto Urban Design Awards.

Philip actively supports the architecture and local business community. He does regular crits at schools of architecture, participates in the Ontario Association of Architects mentorship program and co-chairs the Casa Loma Business Improvement Association.
